Turn of the millennium

From a Swabian construction company to a pan-European construction services provider

As the borders in Europe fell, LEONHARD WEISS seized the opportunity to gain a foothold in other countries. Track construction always opens doors. The European railway network offers opportunities in Poland and Romania, but also in the Scandinavian countries. The good reputation of LEONHARD WEISS bears fruit here and brings exciting railway construction contracts, e.g. on the line from Bucharest to Constanta on the Black Sea or in Kiruna, the northernmost city in Sweden. A European network of subsidiaries is created.

Room for healthy growth in Satteldorf

In 2001, LEONHARD WEISS moved its second main site from Crailsheim to Satteldorf, where more than 300 employees took up their new jobs. In 2018, the company began an expansion to keep pace with the steady growth in the number of employees.

Building sites make history

There are many building sites at LEONHARD WEISS that stand out because of their special features. For example, archaeological finds, 65 meters high engineering structures or prestigious historical buildings.

2003

Room for healthy growth in Göppingen

A new administration building is also being built at the original site and will be ready for occupation by the end of 2003. 280 employees from three previous locations will find a new home and state-of-the-art office space here.

2014

TOP employer in times of skills shortage

In 2014, LEONHARD WEISS was awarded first place in the construction industry as a top employer by the magazine Focus, and since 2014 has been consistently among the best. The corporate culture is characterised by family values and continuous improvement of the working environment for employees.

2014

Looking to the future with the fourth generation of shareholders

In 1992, the fourth generation officially took on various roles as shareholders. With their entry into the management team in 2014, they hold important departmental management positions and help steer the companies fortunes.

2015

Race track in 3 days

A particular highlight of 2015 was the construction of the race track for Stars and Cars – a motor sport event held on 12 December at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Stuttgart-Bad Cannstatt. This was a real challenge for the LW team. They had 72 hours to build the track and 36 hours to dismantle it. At the weekend, the cars raced around the track – with a Bundesliga match against VfB Stuttgart the following Wednesday.

2016 / 2021

Support for regions affected by flood disasters

After the devastating floods in Braunsbach (2016) and in the Ahr valley (2021), LEONHARD WEISS carried out clean-up work, repaired infrastructure and contributed to reconstruction. Further contracts to restore the destroyed infrastructure of the areas followed.

2023

First climate-conscious construction site

LEONHARD WEISS has already acknowledged its responsibility for the environment in its mission statement. With innovations, efficient structures and processes that contribute to climate-conscious construction, the company minimises its ecological footprint.

2024

The general refurbishment of the Riedbahn – a mammoth project

The Riedbahn, a highly frequented, 70 km long railway line between Frankfurt (Main) and Mannheim, is to be completely overhauled in a concerted mammoth project. LEONHARD WEISS is mastering this project as part of a joint venture – with concentrated know-how and powerful machinery.
