People take center stage.
‘Take care of the people’. Walter Weiss (1916-2008) said this sentence again and again, most recently shortly before his death. These few, yet brilliantly Swabian words contain a wealth of messages. About the basic attitude of company management in a family business and about the importance of occupational safety. But above all, Walter Weiss expresses his deep appreciation for people, which goes beyond the company's employees.
This basic attitude is cultivated at LEONHARD WEISS. The family-owned company has defended it during dark periods of war and economic crises and today the values are part of the corporate culture. This becomes clear in firmly established social activities such as the trainee projects, in which every year the trainees from the second year of training independently implement a construction site for a charitable project in the region, for example for schools, youth centres or other social institutions. Or in traditions such as the annual Christmas tombola donations and the natural way in which the company helps when it can.
LEONHARD WEISS has always seen it as a matter close to its heart to share its own success and to provide support where help is most urgently needed.
LEONHARD WEISS has long recognised that people are also a success factor. This is why the company invests in satisfied and motivated employees – through training programmes, health management and special payments. Because employees are also seen as ‘family’, help with private and professional challenges is a matter of honour. Regardless of whether it is about balancing family and career, non-smoking courses or anonymous counselling. This family feeling is particularly evident at the big summer parties or the annual LeoCamp – a special programme for employees' children during the summer holidays. At the LeoCamp, children are professionally supervised, go on great excursions and have a lot of fun gaining experience on construction sites – while their parents are relieved of the often organisationally challenging holiday period.
LEONHARD WEISS is characterised by enthusiastic people. Special results are achieved in a corporate culture based on appreciation and mutual trust.
The words of Walter Weiss resonate. Even in a time of skills shortages, technological innovations, climate change and growth. Even in the growing company, which today has more than 7,200 employees (2024) from more than 62 nations working on construction sites throughout Europe. Because the message is essentially the same: ‘Take care of the people.’
